Buying a New Phone System?

October 17, 2008 10:57 by Rich Moncure

Several months ago, a longtime (10 years plus) customer called us and announced they had signed up for a new Hosted IP phone service from a large carrier.  The customer asked for us to provide our On Hold Messaging program in the form of an audio file to the carrier.  Naturally, we would be glad to make that change.  However, upon our contacting the Hosted IP provider, we were informed that they would not support our file, and that the only option the customer had for callers on hold was their canned music offering.  Unfortunately for all of the parties, the installation had already commenced and the customer was unable to break their agreement with the carrier.    We have grown to learn that this customer is anxious for their agreement with the carrier to expire.  Fortunately, this is not the case with nearly all telephone system technologies, and most Hosted IP service providers will support our audio files.  We are now encouraging our existing customers to give us a quick call before they complete a new system transaction, so we can discuss how our On Hold Messaging program will continue to provide value to them.
